4th of July, Kansas City, and Random Pictures

4th of July at Martie's house

Andrew loved lighting the fireworks

Poor Ethan got the stomach flu

Hannah loved the sparklers

Eliza went from liking them and saying how pretty they are to getting more apprehensive

We went to watch a show which the kids loved

Daniel and I went to a Chinese lantern show at the botanical gardens for our anniversary.  It was very cool.

Eliza loves riding the balance bike

Andrew makes delicious pancakes

Road trip to Kansas City.  We gave Daniel's cousin's daughter a ride and it was nice to have some extra help in the car.  The kids actually do pretty well on road trips.  We listened to Harry Potter the whole way.

Daniel was working in Kansas City for a few days so we decided to join him.  I researched some fun stuff to do in Kansas City but I knew we'd be spending a lot of time in the hotel and we decided to have a screen free vacation so I brought some quiet activities.  It wasn't all quiet...you'll notice the sheets are off the bed because they were jumping back and forth between the two beds.

The first day we went to a really cool (and free) farm / old fashioned town. They had an old one room school house that even came with a teacher and a lesson.  I love stuff like this!

We went fishing (that cost a few dollars).  They gave us a wooden fishing pole and a can of wiggly worms for us to put on the hooks ourselves.  The kids and I have never done much fishing and we weren't very successful but we had fun.  There were a lot of fish and we'd see and feel them on the pole but they would get the worm before we could get them up.  Hannah was the only one brave enough to put the worms on herself.

It was so hot!!  It was 104 degrees but we tried to stay cool by eating ice cream, playing in the water, sticking to the shade and fans, and going into air conditioned buildings.  We also brought fans to hang around our necks.

Last time we fed baby goats they weren't very hungry.  This time we had the opposite problem.  One was nibbling Hannah's skirt and a whole bunch of them were following after Ellie trying to get her to feed them.  The kids loved it.

We went to eat at a railroad restaurant which was super cool.  The food was delivered by train!

The kids loved swimming at the hotel pool. I need to get them swimming lessons very badly but Andrew and Hannah both are doing a pretty good job teaching themselves.

There was a huge thunderstorm the second day we were there so we had to spend the day indoors...at legoland

I didn't get very many pictures because my camera and phone both died.

Most of my pictures were all of Eliza because the other kids were off playing on their own.

The third day we went on a little hike and found a little cave

It was super hot again.

Daniel finished work early and on the way home we went to the Kansas City temple.  Our stake challenged up to let the kids touch the temple once a month.

They had a really cool visitor center with a bunch of stuff for kids to do.  After this we headed home.  It was a great trip!

The girls put on a play on the trampoline, it was super cute.

We love Daniel working from home.  One day he had to be gone during the day and Hannah made him this note.

Ethan is pretending he is on a "work call" just like dad :).

In other news...we sold our house in Mill Creek.  We loved that house but we have outgrown it so it wouldn't really work to move back into someday.  We are now looking for a house to buy and we think we found one that will work well for us.  We are super excited for our trip to Seattle!
